Koh Phi Phi vs Koh Lanta? Which island in Thailand should you visit?
If you’re planning a trip to Thailand, I’m sure you are adding some island hopping to your itinerary! After all, the beautiful beaches are part of the top places to visit in Thailand.
Depending on the amount of time you have you may be trying to narrow down which islands to visit while you are there! There are a couple popular islands near Phuket and Krabi. However, they are VERY different from each other — so a popular question is Koh Phi Phi vs Koh Lanta.
Both of these islands are popular destinations, offering beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, and plenty of things to do. However, they are also very different in many ways!
If you’re looking for a party scene or resort vacation, Koh Phi Phi might be for you! However, if you’re looking for a more laid-back atmosphere, Koh Lanta may be the better choice for you.
Koh Phi Phi is known for its vibrant nightlife and party scene, making it a popular destination for young travelers. While the island does have some stunning beaches and natural beauty, it can be quite crowded and touristy. Check out my guide to all the things to do in Koh Phi Phi!
Even though Koh Phi Phi is one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. The island is completely overtaken by tourism. This is what turned me off to Koh Phi Phi. I didn’t enjoy Burger King and McDonalds being the first things I saw when I walked onto the island — it’s just not the way I like to travel.
Koh Lanta has a more relaxed atmosphere, with a mix of peaceful beaches and small towns. It is a great place to escape the crowds and just relax.
In terms of things to do, both islands offer a variety of activities, including snorkeling, diving, and boat trips. Koh Lanta also has some interesting cultural attractions, such as the Lanta Old Town and the Mu Ko Lanta National Park.
However, if you’re looking for a more active vacation, Koh Phi Phi may be a better choice, with its abundance of water sports and adventure activities. Check out my guide to all the things to do in Koh Lanta!
Ultimately, the choice between Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi comes down to personal preference.
If you’re looking for a more low-key and relaxed vacation, Koh Lanta may be the better choice. However, if you’re seeking more of a resort vibe with party atmosphere, Koh Phi Phi may be more of your style.
Even though Koh Phi Phi has some must-see spots. Koh Lanta was much more up my alley as a place to spend more time due to being less touristy. I felt like I was able to enjoy the culture more and avoid the crowds.
So when we’re talking Koh Phi Phi vs Koh Lanta, my recommendation is definitely Koh Lanta!
